The Papercraft Site list

Postby Drummyralf » 25 Jul 2013, 15:34

In this topic you can link to other papercraft sites that you regularly visit that might be useful for others. This topic is free from the rule: "Thread cannot be about URL/Site." When you post a link here, I'll add it to the top post to create a nice library of cool links.

This topic is for links to sites that provide papercrafts other then those that can be found on the NP blog. It's not really useful to have 4 links of sites that all just have the same crafts on them.

And yes, you MAY post a link to your own blog here and it might be posted to the top post. However, this is NOT a recruiting topic, an advertisement topic nor an "I have these plans for my site" topic.

The links don't neccessarily have to lead to Nintendo-related papercraft sites.

Okay, thanks!

My main site: http://nintendopapercraftvideos.wordpress.com/ This is where I post Nintendo related papercrafts and post my videos.

Star Wars Papercraft http://starwarspapercraft1.blogspot.com/ Coming soon!

Skyloft Papercraft http://skyloftpapercraft.blogspot.com/ The top place for Zelda papercrafts.

And then blogs that I've created but haven't posted on yet: DK Papercraft, Super Craft Bros.(Smash Bros. Papercraft), Kirby Craft, and Super Mario Papercraft.

If anyone would like to help with a blog, just pm me.

Well, it's great to have your own blog, but you don't give credit to the makers of the models. You simply link back to (mainly) Nintendo Papercraft. Instead, why don't you:
1. Give credit to the makers, add information about the craft like NP does, and link directly to the download.
Or (the, in my opinion, better option)
2. Only post your own crafts.
As, at this moment, you have simply created a blog for each NP section.

Yes, you're right about the first part; I eventually hope to be able to edit all of the posts. But I specifically said in the about section that the crafts are not designed by me. Although I am planning to do that in Skyloft Papercraft. And I will make a blog where I only post my designs when I am good enough at editing; right now, I'm still being taught.

Just to clarify: This topic is for links to sites that provide papercrafts other then those that can be found on the NP blog. It's not really useful to have 4 links of sites that all just have the same crafts on them.

And yes, you MAY post a link to your own blog here and it might be posted to the top post. However, this is NOT a recruiting topic, an advertisement topic nor an "I have these plans for my site" topic.

This is simply a place to exchange links so we can all find new papercrafts.

Yes, I didn't mean for that to happen. Sorry. So just to be sure; this topic is for sites that have models that most are not posted on here; so like PaperZelda would not be posted?

Here are some of my favorite papercraft websites.

Paperman Returns
http://paperman2.com/

First of all, Paperman is the designer of some of the oldest Mario papercraft (he used to be nicknamed Gotorion) and is an expert in simple models. He rencently designed a few gems, such as a SSB64 Yoshi, a Kirby container and a (still-unreleased-on-our-blog) Earthbound hako. He's actually working on an awesome battle-pose Mario from SSB64, that you can follow the progress on Twitter: https://twitter.com/paperman64 (It's in Japanese, but he frequently tweets photos.

Spoiler: show
Honestly, I think this is one of the few papercraft Twitter accounts worth following...

(I'm not too sure, but I think he wants to make all the characters from SSB64 BTW)

He's also made a Sponge-bob.

I frequently contacted him via email and Twitter, and he's just awesome. FYI, he designed his website all by himself.

Canon CREATIVE PARK
http://cp.c-ij.com/en/contents/1006/

How could you? How could you omit such an essential resource from the Master List? Just nonsense.

The Creative Park has some of the most ingeniously engineered non-Nintendo paper models. Just from a quick glance at the template and you'll find out it necessitated a lot more than just Pepakura Designer, a 3D modelling software and GIMP. No, this necessitated hours of professional work. The result is just amazing: paper models of all sorts, from animals to landmarks to holiday decorations. The designs are examples: vector textures, smooth lines, perfect product photograph, A4 and Letter PDF templates (no PDO) and detailed, vector-drawn instructions. Every detail has been thought: on the product page, you'll find the artist's name, the release date, the printer recommendations, the number of pages, the size of the files, a description, tags, help and related models. If I had to search for a papercraft archive website, I'd want it too be just like that.

ROBOSQUARE
http://robosquare.city.fukuoka.lg.jp/ro ... apercraft/

Robosquare only host four paper models. Yet, they're some of the bests I've ever seen.

These models are representations of their three robotic siblings: AIBO from SONY (B&W), IFBOT and PINO the humanoid.

Okay then, but what's the thing? The thing is, these models are perfect on so many levels.

First of all, the visual. The website and the templates are in Japanese, yet there could have been no text at all and anybody could be able to select their model, download the PDFs and build their own AIBO. The instructions are totally visual, and they're vector-drawn graphics. They say it all.

Then, the templates. Take the AIBO by example. It's a very complex model, yet they compacted it in a two pager. It's a vector-drawn template. Take a lot at the pieces, and you'll be astonished by how simple they are. The designer(s) has used a special method that reduces the number of glue tabs and makes assembling extremely easy while creating a perfect, round model.

Finally, the models themselves are just smartly-designed. Every of AIBO's "limbs" are in fact mobile joints. You can pose the model however you want. Genius.

EPSON PRINTOWN
http://www.epson.jp/katsuyou/printown/craft/

EPSON is one of CANON's competitor and obviously, like any Japanese company would do, they tried to "outsmart" CANON's paper craft collection. And they failed.

Although, their few models are of very high quality too. It's a nice collection of sea animals, cars, golf club (?), Japanese castle, other animals, and such. My favorites are the clownfish and the Pacific regal blue tang, which remind me of Marlin and Dory from Finding Nemo (my favorite movie)

YAMAHA Paper Crafts & Pop-up greeting cards
http://global.yamaha-motor.com/yamahast ... apercraft/
http://global.yamaha-motor.com/yamahast ... popupcard/

YAMAHA has design ultra-high quality models of motorbikes, animals, seasons and Japan-related things. Plus, they've released a papercraft tutorial:
http://global.yamaha-motor.com/yamahast ... aft/howto/

Momir Farooq's papercrafts
http://www.momirfarooq.com/index.htm

Farooq's initial goal was: to make a collection of Star Wars mini-models at scale with the official plastic mini-figurines. The result? A great collection of tiny simple models that could all fit in a tissue box. And now, surprise! He's also designed a few non-Star Wars models, such as Transformers.

Howl's Moving Castle Papercraft
https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set ... 790&type=1

This almost bring up tears to my eyes. The one! The moving castle! I MUST build it one day... it's a really valuable template that can't be found anywhere else. *Making my personal backup now*

kamibox
http://www.kamibox.de/download

There's no need to describe who is Philipp Stollenmayer, is there? ;)

PaperPokés
http://www.pokemonpapercraft.net/

Nothing, just a small resource of crappy Pokémon models. :p

Spoiler: show
PaperPokés team, if you're reading this just know that this is a joke. Your crafts are insane, especially the fact you used to publish one a week.

Japanese Site (?)
http://3dpaper.blog45.fc2.com/

A huge blog, with some papercraft gems (it'd be worth scanning)

Apparently, one of my favorite Star Wars models, the Stormtrooper Helmet, comes from there:
http://starwarsblog.starwars.com/index. ... apercraft/

So that's it for my favorite paper craft websites (excluding the previously-mentioned ones of course). I hope it helped you! :)

I've just found an amazing papercraft website.

Johan Scherft Papercrafts
Birds, frogs, fish and boats
http://www.johanscherft.com/papercraft.html

Models are ultra-realistic and hand-drawn. It really shows that it's been made by a professional artist.

Not all models are available for free download, though. However, some, like this incredible hatching dinosaur puppet, are.
